Job Title: Experienced Accountant

My client is looking for an experienced Accountant to join their growing and dynamic accountancy practice. You'll manage a varied portfolio of small business clients, providing high-quality accounting, tax, and advisory services while building strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit annual accounts and tax returns for Sole Traders, Partnerships, and Limited Companies.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, providing proactive accounting and tax advice.
  • Review clients' tax positions and identify opportunities to improve tax efficiency.
  • Prepare and review bookkeeping, VAT returns, and CIS returns where required.
  • Conduct year-end meetings with clients to present financial results and provide business advice.
  • Deliver advisory services including cash flow forecasting, budgeting, pricing, and business performance support.
  • Onboard new clients, ensuring a smooth transition into the practice.
  • Liaise with HMRC and Companies House to resolve client queries and maintain statutory compliance.
  • Carry out client fee reviews.
  • Support the Client Manager and Senior Accountant within the team.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members.
  • Maintain accurate electronic client records and documentation.
  • Deliver bookkeeping training and other external client training where appropriate.
  • Maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and keep up to date with changes in accounting and tax legislation.

  • Full membership of a recognised professional accounting body (AAT, ATT, ACCA or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience within an accountancy practice.
  • Experience preparing accounts and tax returns for Sole Traders, Partnerships, and Limited Companies through to review stage.
  • Strong knowledge of UK tax and accounting principles.
