G. D. O'HEHIR & CO LIMITED is an established accounting firm based in the SM Business Centre in Spennymoor, County Durham, United Kingdom. The firm provides professional accounting and related financial services to a diverse portfolio of clients. Located in a well-connected business hub, the company serves both local organisations and individuals seeking reliable financial guidance. The firm offers opportunities to develop expertise in accounting while working closely with experienced professionals.
Because we are a growing firm, we need someone who ideally can hit the ground running. You will deal with a portfolio of clients and handle a diverse range of accounting and tax responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Preparation: Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
- Tax Compliance: Preparing and submitting Corporate Tax returns (CT600) and Personal Tax returns (Self-Assessment).
- VAT & MTD: Preparing and submitting VAT returns, ensuring full compliance with Making Tax Digital (MTD).
- Bookkeeping: Monthly / Quarterly bookkeeping tasks for certain clients maintaining clean, accurate digital ledgers.
- Client Advisory: Acting as a trusted point of contact, helping clients navigate their software and day-to-day accounting queries.

About You (Requirements)
- Practice Experience (Required): You must have recent, proven experience working within a UK accountancy practice.
- Tech-Savvy: You thrive in a digital environment and love using cloud-based accounting tech.
- Software Skills: Preferred hands-on experience with software such as TaxCalc, Xero, QuickBooks, and FreeAgent.
- Work Ethic: You are capable, highly organised, and possess a strong, proactive work ethic.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to build strong relationships with clients and team members alike.
