G. D. O'HEHIR & CO LIMITED is an established accounting firm based in the SM Business Centre in Spennymoor, County Durham, United Kingdom. The firm provides professional accounting and related financial services to a diverse portfolio of clients. Because we are a growing firm, we need someone who ideally can hit the ground running. You will deal with a portfolio of clients and handle a diverse range of accounting and tax responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Preparation: Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
- Tax Compliance: Preparing and submitting Corporate Tax returns (CT600) and Personal Tax returns (Self-Assessment).
- VAT & MTD: Preparing and submitting VAT returns, ensuring full compliance with Making Tax Digital (MTD).
- Bookkeeping: Monthly / Quarterly bookkeeping tasks for certain clients maintaining clean, accurate digital ledgers.
- Client Advisory: Acting as a trusted point of contact, helping clients navigate their software and day-to-day accounting queries.

About You (Requirements)
- Practice Experience (Required): You must have recent, proven experience working within a UK accountancy practice.
- Tech-Savvy: You thrive in a digital environment and love using cloud-based accounting tech.
- Software Skills: Preferred hands-on experience with software such as TaxCalc, Xero, QuickBooks, and FreeAgent.
- Work Ethic: You are capable, highly organised, and possess a strong, proactive work ethic.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to build strong relationships with clients and team members alike.
