Role Description
This is a full-time, Accountant role based in Lancaster. The Accountant will manage day-to-day management of a diverse client portfolio, prepare financial statements, and reconcile accounts to ensure accurate, timely financial records.

- Preparing VAT returns, payroll and related postings
- Preparing and filing personal and corporate tax computations
- Liaising with clients to clarify financial information
- Supporting clients with compliance requirements
- Responding to queries in a clear, professional manner
- Collaborating with colleagues to improve processes
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations
- Contributing to a reliable, client-focused service
Qualifications
- Strong skills in financial accounting and bookkeeping, including ledger management, reconciliations, and preparation of accounts
- Proficiency in tax and compliance activities, such as VAT returns, corporate and personal tax support, and awareness of UK accounting standards
- Experience with accounting and payroll software, along with confident use of spreadsheets and general office software
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-specialist clients
- Effective time management, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple client deadlines
- Working towards relevant professional qualification (e.g., AAT, ACCA, or equivalent) or substantial demonstrable experience in an accounting role
- Experience working with SMEs, contractors, or limited companies
- Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and continuous professional development in accounting and compliance
