Are you an experienced Accountant looking for a broad role within a successful and growing business?
We are working exclusively with an established, successful organisation within the construction sector to recruit an Accountant to join their finance team on a permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Accountant or Qualified by Experience (QBE) professional who is looking to take ownership of a broad range of accounting responsibilities and play an important role within an established finance function.
The Role
Joining a small and collaborative finance team, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of key accounting areas while working closely with senior finance and operational stakeholders.
This is a hands-on and varied Accountant position, combining transactional finance oversight with management accounts, financial reporting, VAT and commercial analysis.
You will be responsible for producing accurate management information and reporting packs, providing meaningful commentary on financial performance and supporting the wider business with insightful analysis to aid decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Produce management reporting packs with clear commentary on performance, trends and variances.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes where required.
- Oversee elements of transactional finance, including AP and AR processes.
- Manage VAT returns and support wider compliance and statutory requirements.
- Maintain strong financial controls and support process improvements.
- Assist with year-end audit preparation and liaise with external accountants and auditors where required.
- Support cash flow reporting and monitor key working capital areas.
- Work closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure accurate cost capture and reporting.
- Provide ad hoc financial reporting and analysis to support senior decision-making.
- Provide oversight and support across transactional finance activities as required.

About You
We are looking for a confident and commercially minded Accountant who is comfortable working across a broad range of accounting responsibilities.
You will ideally have:
- An ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, or be qualified by experience (QBE).
- Previous experience across a variety of accounting areas, including management accounts, VAT and transactional finance.
- Strong management reporting and financial analysis experience.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with stakeholders across the wider business.
- Experience within the construction sector or another project-based environment would be advantageous.
- Experience using Sage is preferred, although experience with another accounting system will be considered.
- A hands-on approach and willingness to get involved across all levels of the finance function.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
