Contract: Initial 3-month contract | PAYE

Central London

JAB Recruitment is seeking a Financial Accountant to join an established energy business with UK and international operations.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a Group Finance function, supporting financial accounting, period-end close, consolidation, and balance sheet control within a complex, asset-led environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support period-end close activities, including Group consolidation and financial reporting.
  • Prepare complex journals, including accruals, provisions, and intercompany adjustments.
  • Maintain balance sheet integrity through reconciliations, reviews, and financial controls.
  • Support Group accounting policies and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Review corporate costs and assist with variance analysis, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audit requirements.
  • Work closely with the wider Finance team to improve reporting, data quality, and accounting processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through analytics, automation, and AI-enabled tools.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Good understanding of IFRS/UK GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and financial controls.
  • Experience supporting financial close and consolidation processes.
  • Familiarity with SAP, including posting journals and running financial reports.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using advanced Excel, Power BI, or equivalent reporting tools.
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, or qualified by experience.
  • Working towards ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing deadlines.

Desirable Experience

  • SAP S/4HANA and Fiori Apps.
  • Experience within upstream energy or another asset-led industry.
  • External or statutory audit support.
  • Experience using data analytics, visualisation, or automation to improve financial reporting.

The Opportunity

You will work closely with the Financial Accounting Lead and wider Finance teams, contributing to accurate financial reporting, effective controls, and continuous improvement across the organisation.

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual who enjoys solving complex accounting challenges and working collaboratively across Finance.
