Anderson Knight are working with a long standing client to recruit a PQ Accountant to join their growing finance team in Motherwell. This is a good opportunity for someone who has already gained some experience within an accountancy practice and is now looking to develop their skills and progress their career.
About the Role
You’ll work alongside experienced accountants and gain exposure to a range of clients and accounting work. The role would suit someone who is keen to learn, enjoys working with numbers and wants to build a long-term career in accountancy.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation of accounts for a range of clients.
- Supporting the preparation of VAT returns and other routine financial information.
- Assisting with bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.
- Preparing basic journals and posting transactions to accounting systems.
- Supporting year-end accounts and general accounting work.
- Assisting with payroll and other client requirements where required.
- Communicating with clients and dealing with routine queries.
- Helping senior members of the team with more complex accounting work as your experience develops.
- Keeping client records accurate and up to date.
- Supporting the wider team with ad hoc work as required.

Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who already has a good foundation in accountancy and is keen to continue learning.
Required Skills
- At least 2-3 years’ experience working within an accountancy practice.
- A good understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Some experience of accounts preparation, bookkeeping and VAT.
- An interest in progressing within the accountancy profession.
- Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your workload.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with clients.
- Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel would be beneficial.
- Ideally, you’ll be studying towards or looking to start a professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, AAT.
