Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Control

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L and balance sheet.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Ensure financial records are accurate and maintained in line with accounting standards.

Revenue, Costs & General Accounting

  • Support revenue and cost recognition processes.
  • Post and review journals, including accruals and prepayments.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and support depreciation calculations.
  • Assist with expense reviews and cost control processes.

European & Group Responsibilities

  • Support accounting activities across multiple European entities.
  • Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
  • Work with the wider finance team to meet group reporting deadlines.
  • Support multi-currency accounting and reporting.

Compliance & Tax

  • Assist with VAT return preparation and submissions.
  • Support compliance with local statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with audit processes, including preparing supporting documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies.

Cash & Working Capital

  • Support cash allocation and bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with basic cash flow reporting.
  • Monitor working capital items such as receivables and payables.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and controls.
  • Support system improvements and automation initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and organised financial records.

Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Organised and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proactive and willing to learn.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative approach.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (AAT / ACCA / CIMA / ACA).
  • Experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • Good understanding of core accounting principles.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience in a multi-entity or European environment.
  • Exposure to professional services, infrastructure, or real estate sectors.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems or ERP platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of VAT.
