POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial accounting, internal controls, budgeting, and financial reporting for the European entities of RenaissanceRe. The Accountant has close interaction across multiple areas of the business and works to add value across relevant teams. The Accountant will build relationships with multiple stakeholders including the London and Global Finance teams, underwriting, actuarial and operations teams, internal and external auditors and regulatory reporting contacts.

- Preparation of accurate financial reporting, both for internal and external purposes following required GAAP and regulatory standards. Specific focus on Regulatory submissions including Lloyd’s reporting, Solvency reporting and statutory financial statements.
- Assist with completing aspects of the monthly and/or quarterly close.
- Work with relevant partners to ensure accuracy of transactions and financial disclosure.
- Support the continued enhancement and ongoing development of multiple financial systems ensuring that all Finance needs are met.
- Other tasks as necessary to support day to day functioning of Accounting.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors.
Financial Planning and Analysis
- Analyse group and local results for management and board reporting
- Support the annual budgeting process
- Support business partnering to add value across relevant teams
- Contribute to project work and provide general assistance to the Finance Department and other teams as needed
EXPECTED COMPETENCIES:
Professional/Technical Experience:
- Experience within Insurance Industry (Lloyd’s experience preferable)
- Strong knowledge of US/UK GAAP
- Working knowledge of general ledger systems and policy administration/accounting systems
Basic Competencies:
- Proven problem solving and analytical skills
- Proven ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Ability to work on own initiative and complete work in a methodical, thorough, and organised manner.
- Excellent numerical skills and keen attention to detail
- Strong Excel skills essential
Educational/Professional Requirements:
- Professional accounting designation (ACA qualified or equivalent)
