Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum
Role Overview
Seeking an experienced and motivated Qualified Accountant (Public Practice) with a strong background in public practice who is looking to develop their career within a professional and supportive environment, to join their established and growing team in North Ayrshire.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of clients, preparing accounts, supporting tax compliance, and providing a high standard of professional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and charities accurately and within agreed deadlines
- Prepare management accounts where required
- Prepare Cash Flows where required
- Prepare personal and corporation tax computations and submissions
- Liaise directly with clients regarding financial information and queries
- Ensure compliance with current accounting standards and HMRC requirements
- Maintain accurate working papers and client files
- Utilise cloud-based accounting software to prepare and review financial information
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients
- Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and accounting practices
- Training of junior staff and provide support to colleagues across the practice as required
- Provide software training for clients

Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Qualified Accountant (ICAS, ACCA or equivalent)
- Previous experience working within a public practice environment
- Strong knowledge of preparing accounts for a variety of business types
- Experience using various accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks, Sage
- Excellent understanding of account preparation procedures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Supervision of accounts staff
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple client deadlines
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
- Personal Tax, Corporation Tax & VAT knowledge

Desirable
- Experience using additional cloud accounting packages
- Knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering Procedures and Reporting Protocols
- Payroll experience (advantageous but not essential)
- Knowledge of Making Tax Digital for VAT & Income Tax requirements
- 1st review of accounts and working papers
