Role Overview

We are currently seeking a qualified or nearly qualified Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role will initially take ownership of core transactional processes to build a strong understanding of the business and financial operations.

Working closely with the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will play a key role in driving process improvements and implementing automation across the finance function, enabling the team to transition from transactional processing to a more value-added business partnering role.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is technically strong, commercially aware, and motivated to modernise finance processes through technology and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Core Finance & Transactional Ownership

  • Oversee and optimise accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Perform and review bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records and ledgers.
  • Prepare and review client invoicing in line with contractual agreements.
  • Support VAT returns and statutory filings.
  • Oversee the day-to-day workload of the Finance Intern

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Contribute to the year-end close and audit process.
  • Strengthen and maintain financial controls and governance frameworks.

Process Improvement & Automation

  • Partner with the Financial Controller to identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements across finance processes.
  • Lead or support the implementation of finance systems, tools, and AI-driven solutions.
  • Streamline workflows to reduce manual intervention and improve data accuracy.
  • Document and standardise processes to support scalability.

Business Partnering & Value Add

  • Support the transition of finance towards a business partnering model.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with non-finance stakeholders to improve financial understanding and performance.

Ad Hoc & Project Work

  • Support strategic finance initiatives and transformation projects.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the wider business.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Qualified or nearly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • 2–4 years’ experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end finance processes (P2P, O2C, R2R).
  • Experience preparing management accounts and working within a controlled finance environment.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with a commercial mindset.
  • Proven ability to identify inefficiencies and drive process improvements.
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical capability.
  • Comfortable working with data, systems, and automation tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage non-finance stakeholders.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with cloud-based accounting systems.
