At Eni, we are looking for an Accountant within Liverpool Bay CCS in London. You will be responsible for supporting statutory accounts, regulatory, authority and lender reporting, and audit management for Eni Liverpool Bay CCS Limited (“LBA CCS”). It also involves preparing, analysing, monitoring and submitting financial reports and accounts to Eni CCS Holding Ltd and Eni SpA in accordance with International Accounting Standards.

About Liverpool Bay CCS

Liverpool Bay CCS Ltd - part of Eni CCUS Holding Limited, the leading CCS company jointly controlled by energy-tech group Eni S.p.A. and BlackRock's GIP - is the owner and operator of the Liverpool Bay Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) Transportation and Storage (T&S) infrastructure. This project is the backbone of the HyNet Cluster, aimed at reducing carbon emissions from a wide range of industrial sectors across the Northwest of England and North Wales. Liverpool Bay CCS Ltd works with hard-to-abate industries to transport their captured CO₂ from various plants to safe and permanent store in depleted offshore reservoirs, beneath Liverpool Bay. The company, in addition to new facilities, is repurposing some of its existing infrastructure, including onshore/offshore pipelines, industrial plant and offshore structures, to support economic growth in the region and help the UK path to achieve its energy transition objectives. Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounting, reporting and finance activities for LBA CCS in line with internal control procedures and the regulatory framework.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end PnL, balance sheet and financial information.
  • Review and reconcile the monthly trial balance.
  • Calculate and book the monthly charges for depreciation and abandonment.
  • Review, run and reconcile the capitalization report and run the monthly cost allocation procedure.
  • Manage reconciliations and accounting schedules for designated accounts on a monthly basis, including intercompany accounts.
  • Managing reporting related to: Mastro reporting and any additional requests for Eni CCUS Holding Lt and Eni SpA; monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to the Regulator, Secretary of State and lenders; annual regulatory reporting pack, ensuring that all are delivered according to the agreed deadlines.
  • Ensure that internal reporting is consistent with the accounting data (e.g. SAP to Mastro reconciliation).
  • Draft financial statements to report to the Secretary of State and manage all queries accordingly.
  • Support with setting up accounting and reporting systems and reports in line with HO, regulatory and project finance requirements, including developing and maintaining internal control and effective policies, ensuring adherence to MSGs, internal control frameworks and the regulatory framework.
  • Support the month and year-end closing process.
  • Support with statutory and regulatory audit processes.

Skills and experience required:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Management or a related field.
  • Professionally qualified (ACA, CA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience in accounting / finance roles within the oil / gas / energy sector, ideally within Big Four.
  • Strong understanding of international and statutory accounting principles.
  • Experience with hedge accounting, financial instruments, debt accounting, lease accounting and decommissioning provisions.
  • Experience working with SAP.
  • Advanced level of Excel.
  • Strong organization and time management skills, able to work with a high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong teamwork skills, able to build positive working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented, adaptable attitude to work.
  • Fluent level of English.
