About the Role
A dynamic organisation in Bath is seeking an Accountant to join their central finance team and take responsibility for key areas of the financial close, reporting, and accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of key aspects of the month-end process
- Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, and depreciation
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain and manage the fixed asset register
- Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for month-end and year-end reporting
- Ensure transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with accounting controls
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and reconciliation issues
- Support the preparation of statutory accounts and audit requirements
- Work closely with internal teams to provide accurate financial information
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting

Skill and Attributes
- Experience working in a fast-paced accounting role
- A good understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
- Strong Excel and financial systems skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
- The ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across the business
- A relevant accounting qualification or be working towards one, is desirable
