Role Description
The Accountant role at DGP Materials Handling is a full-time, on-site position based in Darnley. The role involves managing day-to-day accounting operations, including managing the Accounts team, reconciling bank accounts, handling payroll entries, and preparing financial reports and KPIs. The Accountant will monitor cash flow, support budgeting and forecasting, and ensure that financial records are accurate, up to date, and compliant with relevant regulations. This position also includes collaborating with management to provide financial insights, assisting with audits, and improving financial processes and controls to support a growing materials handling business.

Qualifications
- Strong accounting and financial reporting skills, including experience with general ledger management, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheet tools (e.g., ERP systems, Excel) and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and basic tax and compliance requirements relevant to UK businesses. Inc completion of VAT Returns
- Attention to detail, strong analytical abilities, and solid problem-solving skills for reviewing financial data and identifying variances.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with operations, management, and external partners.
- Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a busy on-site environment.
- Relevant professional qualification or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; part or fully qualified (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) is an advantage.
- Previous experience in a small to medium-sized business environment, preferably in equipment hire, logistics, or motor trade is beneficial, but not essential.
