Volunteer for a Startup Empowering Women and Driving Sustainable Fashion! 🪡🧵
SarahGrace Creations trains disadvantaged women in sewing and patternmaking while producing bespoke, low-waste, upcycled garments to combat poverty and fast fashion.
The Challenge
High rates of unemployment and poverty leave vulnerable women—particularly those who are unemployed or escaping abuse—without the practical skills or economic opportunities needed to achieve financial independence. At the same time, the global apparel industry is dominated by fast-fashion models that promote overconsumption, massive textile waste, and environmental degradation. This dual crisis of socio-economic vulnerability and linear material waste creates an urgent need for sustainable, skill-building models that restore human dignity while protecting the planet.
The Solution
SarahGrace Creations tackles both issues through an integrated social and environmental enterprise model. By partnering with NGOs and youth development centers, we deliver comprehensive sewing and patternmaking workshops that equip disadvantaged women with the vocational skills required to build self-directed, sustainable livelihoods. To counter the destructive impact of mass production, we manufacture exclusively bespoke, made-to-order garments—virtually eliminating overproduction and inventory waste. Furthermore, we redirect all remaining fabric scraps into upcycled bags created for the "New Heritage Foundation" to help end period poverty, establishing a zero-waste, circular system that transforms textile waste into tangible community support.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
