Shanahan Engineering Accountant Position
Shanahan Engineering are currently recruiting for an Accountant to join the team in Aberdeen on a 12 - 18-month FTC basis.
Job Purpose
The purpose of the position is to support the Finance function in several areas including month-end closing, tax compliance, bank reconciliations, and other ad-hoc duties.
Job Responsibilities
Tax Compliance
- Responsible for ensuring all VAT returns are prepared and returned to the relevant tax authorities on a timely basis.
- Manage Withholding tax obligations for Saudi Arabia, Israel, Egypt, Ivory Coast, and Turkey.
- For Israel, this involves obtaining tax clearance for all international payments.
- Responsibility for ensuring all tax returns for the business are reconciled to iFlight before returns are submitted (with the exclusion of corporation tax).

- Ensure bank transactions are posted accurately and in a timely manner.
- Preparation of 13-week cashflow forecast on a weekly basis.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all Company bank accounts.
Month-end Reporting
- Post regular monthly journals, FX revaluations, depreciation, prepayments & interest charges.
- Assist monthly review of project margins ensuring job performance is reported accurately.
- Input rolling forecast provided by Financial Controller into FCCS.
Other Duties
- Prepare non-bank & tax balance sheet reconciliations as required.
- Liaise with agents in other countries and provide supporting information as required.
- Reconcile and agree Annual Branch Financial Statements with agents in Israel and Ivory Coast to our records.
- Other ad-hoc duties as required by the business from time to time.

Experience
- Previous experience in a similar position
Education Requirements
- Part qualified accountant
