Vero Recruitment has been exclusively retained to appoint a Financial Accountant on behalf of a rapidly growing international fintech business, on a remote basis, with two days a month collaborating with the team, in person, in London.

About our client:

Our client is an ambitious, technology-led financial services business operating across multiple international markets. The company has grown rapidly in recent years, supported by significant external investment, and is now entering an important next stage of its development.

Operating within the international payments sector, the business combines technology with sophisticated financial infrastructure to provide customers with a faster and more efficient way of moving money across borders.

With further international expansion planned and another significant fundraising process on the horizon, the business is now investing in the finance capability required to support its next phase of growth.

An opportunity has therefore arisen for a Financial Accountant to join its developing finance team, working closely with the Head of Finance within a fast-moving, multi-entity international organisation.

The role:

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you'll help strengthen the financial reporting, controls and processes required to support a rapidly scaling business.

This is a broad, hands-on position within a technically interesting, multi-entity and multi-currency environment. Alongside core accounting and reporting responsibilities, you'll have the opportunity to improve processes and become directly involved in the company's next fundraising process.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Supporting month-end close, including reconciliations, expense schedules and balance sheet substantiation
  • Preparing intercompany reconciliations across a multi-entity, multi-currency group
  • Contributing to monthly consolidated management accounts and supporting commentary
  • Preparing schedules and working papers for the year-end external audit
  • Supporting tax, compliance and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting
  • Exploring how technology and automation can improve the finance function

You'll ideally have trained within an accountancy firm, gaining good exposure to audit and financial reporting.

You won't be expected to have encountered everything this role will expose you to already. More important is intellectual curiosity, strong technical foundations and a willingness to research unfamiliar areas, develop solutions and learn quickly.

Previous exposure to fintech, financial services, international payments or high-growth businesses would be advantageous but isn't essential. An understanding of fundraising or investor due diligence, together with some knowledge of French, would also be beneficial. Again, not essential.

What's on offer:

This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious accountant to join a high-growth international business at a formative stage in its development. You will be the Head of Finance's first major hire into their expanding finance team.

You'll work closely with an experienced Head of Finance, gaining exposure across international accounting, consolidation, audit, financial controls, process improvement and fundraising. You'll also join while the finance function itself is still being built, giving you the opportunity to help shape how it develops as the organisation scales.

Alongside a highly competitive salary, the business offers a meaningful equity allocation, 30 days' holiday, Bupa private medical insurance and company pension.

The organisation operates a highly flexible working model, with the opportunity to work remotely within a compatible time zone from the UK. You will get the opportunity to meet with the team on a monthly basis in London.
