Accountant – Cardiff

Location: Cardiff

Working Pattern: Hybrid

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

The Opportunity

We are working with a progressive and growing professional services business in Cardiff to recruit an experienced Accountant into its expanding team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking firm with an ambitious growth strategy, a strong client base, and a genuinely modern approach to accountancy and advisory services. The successful candidate will manage a varied portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for the preparation and delivery of high-quality accounts while developing strong, long-term client relationships.

The Role

As an Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing year-end statutory accounts for a varied portfolio of clients
  • Producing management accounts and supporting financial reporting requirements
  • Preparing corporation tax computations and associated submissions
  • Supporting clients with VAT and wider compliance requirements
  • Reviewing bookkeeping and accounting information
  • Liaising directly with business owners, directors, and key client contacts
  • Identifying opportunities to provide additional support and advisory services
  • Working closely with senior colleagues across the wider business
  • Supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team where appropriate
  • Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines

About You

We are looking for someone with a strong grounding in accountancy who enjoys working directly with clients and wants to develop within a progressive environment.

You may be ACA, ACCA, or AAT qualified, currently studying towards a professional qualification, or qualified through experience.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous experience within an accountancy practice or professional services environment
  • Strong experience preparing statutory accounts
  • Good knowledge of UK accounting standards
  • Exposure to corporation tax and VAT
  • Confidence communicating directly with clients
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A commercial mindset and desire to understand the businesses you support
  • Experience with modern cloud accounting platforms would be advantageous
