Role Description

We are seeking a capable and detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing organisation. This is a full-time, office-based position located in Dartford, Kent.

The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the company’s day-to-day financial operations and maintaining accurate, timely, and compliant financial records.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable;
  • Preparing and issuing invoices and monitoring outstanding payments;
  • Maintaining accurate general ledger entries;
  • Processing and verifying payroll information;
  • Reconciling bank accounts and investigating discrepancies;
  • Supporting month-end and year-end closing procedures;
  • Preparing management accounts, financial statements, and internal reports;
  • Assisting with budgets, cash-flow forecasts, and financial planning;
  • Monitoring expenditure and helping management maintain effective cost controls;
  • Supporting external accountants, auditors, and regulatory reviews;
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable UK financial regulations, tax requirements, and internal controls;
  • Maintaining organised records and appropriate audit trails; and
  • Working closely with management, operational teams, and care coordinators to provide financial information that supports effective decision-making and high-quality, person-centred services.

The successful candidate must be comfortable working within a growing organisation and capable of improving financial processes, maintaining strong controls, and providing management with clear and reliable financial information.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong accounting and bookkeeping skills, including experience in general ledger management, bank reconciliations, and accounts payable and receivable;
  • Experience preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and financial reports;
  • Proficiency in recognised accounting software and, ideally, experience using ERP systems;
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and financial data analysis;
  • A sound understanding of UK financial regulations, taxation principles, payroll requirements, and audit processes;
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities;
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy;
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing responsibilities and meet deadlines;
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills;
  • The ability to work collaboratively with finance, management, operational, and care teams;
  • A high level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and employee information; and
  • A degree or relevant professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

ACA, ACCA, or CIMA accreditation—whether part-qualified or fully qualified—would be advantageous. Previous accounting experience within healthcare, social care, domiciliary care, supported living, or another service-based organisation would also be highly desirable.
