Role Description
The Accountant will manage day-to-day financial operations, including bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and expense tracking. This full-time, on-site role is based in the London Area, United Kingdom, and involves preparing financial statements, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and maintaining accurate financial records in line with company policies and regulatory requirements. The role includes monitoring project-related costs, assisting with payroll, preparing VAT and other tax submissions, and liaising with auditors, vendors, and internal stakeholders. The Accountant will also help improve financial processes, support management with financial reports and analysis, and ensure timely reporting to support decision-making across construction and staffing projects.

Qualifications

- Strong skills in general accounting, including bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and project-based financial tracking within construction or related industries.
- Proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), with the ability to manage digital records and financial reporting tools.
- Knowledge of UK accounting standards, VAT, payroll processes, and relevant tax and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with capacity to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, site staff, and external partners.
- Relevant professional qualification or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; progress toward or possession of ACA, ACCA, or CIMA certification is an advantage.
- Previous experience in construction, engineering, or labor supply environments is beneficial.
