Accounting Manager, Global Payroll
Location: United Kingdom or Cyprus
Salary: £68,000 - £75,000 + discretionary bonus
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Location & Working Arrangements
- United Kingdom (Remote)
- Fully remote position
- Optional access to the London office
- Candidates must have the right to work in the UK

About The Opportunity
This newly created Accounting Manager, Global Payroll role offers the opportunity to build and scale payroll accounting processes within a fast-growing international business. You'll drive controls, automation, and process improvements while partnering with Finance, Payroll, HR, Tax, and external stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Own month-end and quarter-end close activities relating to payroll accounting, including close calendars, reconciliations, reporting, and variance analysis.
- Take end-to-end responsibility for payroll accounting processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and robust financial reporting.
- Develop and implement accounting procedures, internal controls, and compliance frameworks aligned with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Lead process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and control.
- Build and maintain technical expertise across payroll accounting, compliance, controls, and US GAAP requirements.
- Draft and implement accounting policies, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent application.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing accounting processes and implement practical, scalable solutions.
- Partner with external auditors to support audit activities and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders across Finance, Payroll, HR, Tax, and Operations to deliver best-in-class payroll accounting processes.

Required Qualifications
- ACA, CPA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience within a complex, international organisation.
- Proven experience within a high-growth, scale-up, or startup environment, ideally within the technology sector.
- Strong payroll accounting experience, including compliance and reporting responsibilities.
- Experience using NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
- Demonstrated success delivering process improvements, automation initiatives, or accounting system implementations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to execution.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment and driving change across multiple teams.
