Interim Accounting Manager
Location: Hybrid – Nottingham / Alfreton
Contract: 9-month Fixed Term Contract
Salary: £50K to £56K
We are recruiting an interim Accounting Manager to take responsibility for two key accounting areas within a large, complex organisation.
This is a leadership role, with responsibility for 7 direct reports.
The Role
You will oversee the accounting and financial reporting for two operational business areas covering capital equipment and associated maintenance contracts. Leading a team of accountants and finance associates, you will provide the technical oversight, challenge, and leadership needed to ensure that reporting is accurate, well controlled, and commercially understood.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing a team of 12, including 7 direct reports
- Providing technical guidance and oversight to experienced non-qualified accountants
- Reviewing and challenging monthly accounting and reporting
- Variance analysis against forecast and investigation of key movements
- Sense-checking numbers and ensuring appropriate supporting documentation and controls
- Overseeing accounting relating to capital expenditure and ongoing maintenance contracts
- Acting as a key link between commercial, operational and financial reporting teams

What we’re looking for:
The key requirement for this assignment is strong people leadership.
You will ideally be:
- A confident and experienced finance team manager
- Comfortable managing a team with the ability to review, challenge and develop non-qualified accounting staff
- Ideally experienced within a large and/or complex organisation
- Confident partnering with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Comfortable operating in an interim environment and quickly taking ownership
- Immediately available or short notice period
