Practice Manager – Construction Sector
West Midlands | Up to £65,000 | Predominantly remote | Route to equity partnership
Are you a commercially minded accountant who understands the construction industry and wants to help build a specialist accountancy practice?
We’re recruiting a Practice Manager for a growing firm that works exclusively with construction businesses. This is a senior, hands-on position combining practice management, client advisory, team leadership and business development.
You’ll manage an established client portfolio and lead a team of four accountants—two based in the UK and two offshore. You’ll also work closely with the firm’s director to win new clients, grow revenue and develop the practice.
For the right person who delivers results and contributes to the firm’s growth, there is a genuine opportunity to progress to equity partnership.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and develop an established portfolio of construction clients
- Lead, mentor and review the work of four accountants
- Provide commercial, advisory and consultancy support to business owners
- Oversee accounts, tax and CIS-related work
- Build a strong pipeline of prospective clients
- Lead business-development conversations and convert opportunities
- Strengthen client relationships and identify opportunities for additional services
- Help shape the firm’s growth strategy, systems and service offering
- Maintain high standards across the UK and offshore teams

What we’re looking for
- FCA or FCCA qualified
- Strong UK accountancy-practice experience
- Extensive experience working with construction businesses
- Excellent knowledge of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
- Previous responsibility for managing a client portfolio
- Experience leading, mentoring and reviewing the work of accountants
- A proven ability to generate new business and build a sales pipeline
- Strong commercial awareness and confidence advising business owners
- Ambition to progress towards equity partnership
- Willingness to travel across the Midlands for client meetings when required
- Full right to work in the UK without sponsorship
