Job Description
The Role:
Marken is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join its Accounting team. The successful candidate will support month-end close activities, journal preparation, account reconciliations, accounting controls, and process improvement initiatives across the business. This role will work closely with internal stakeholders and external service providers to ensure accurate accounting records, timely close execution, and continuous enhancement of accounting processes through automation and technology solutions.

- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.
- Review and approval of external service provider activities such as journal entries and reconciliations, as well as resolve reconciling items on a timely basis.
- Support accounting activities including duties and taxes, revenue, transportation costs and rebate accounting.
- Prepare monthly variance explanations for SOX purposes.
- Perform control checks and remediation of errors in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Manage reporting and stakeholder communication.
- Support automation, reporting enhancement, and continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Power BI, Alteryx and other finance technologies.
- Assist with ad hoc accounting projects and business requests as required.

Knowledge Requirements Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Qualified or partly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Minimum of 3 years of finance and accounting experience
- Excellent Microsoft Office Skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Detailed knowledge of accounting processes and principles
- Experience with month-end close, journal preparation, account reconciliations, and general ledger accounting
Preferred
- US GAAP experience
- Experience using ERP systems, preferably Oracle
