Everest is a growing, modern accountancy practice based in Royal Hillsborough, serving a wide and diverse client base across Northern Ireland. We pair genuine technical expertise with the latest cloud technology to give our clients a first class service. As we grow, we are looking for a talented Bookkeeper / Accounts Technician to join our friendly and supportive team.

The role

This is a varied, hands on role at the heart of the practice. You will look after bookkeeping, VAT and payroll for a broad portfolio of clients, working with modern cloud software and a team who are always happy to share knowledge. No two clients are the same, so you will build real breadth of experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records for a varied client base, from sole traders and landlords to limited companies across many sectors
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns in line with Making Tax Digital
  • Running payrolls from start to finish, including RTI submissions, statutory payments and pension auto enrolment
  • Reconciling bank accounts and sales and purchase ledgers
  • Posting journals and maintaining nominal ledgers
  • Liaising directly with clients to gather information, answer queries and build strong working relationships
  • Working with cloud accounting software such as Xero, alongside bookkeeping and payroll tools
  • Supporting the wider team with ad hoc accounts and reporting tasks as required

Essential:

  • IATI qualified as a minimum (further qualified candidates are also welcome to apply)
  • Proven experience in bookkeeping, VAT and payroll, ideally within an accountancy practice
  • Confident using cloud accounting software
  • Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
  • A professional, client focused approach and clear communication skills
  • Able to manage your own workload and meet deadlines

Desirable:

  • Experience of a practice environment serving multiple clients
  • Working knowledge of Xero
  • Exposure to CIS and management reporting
