We’re supporting a growing insurance organisation with the appointment of an experienced IBA Accounts Administrator(s) to join its Group Finance/Insurance Broking Accounts function.
This is a busy, hands-on role with a significant volume of work, so we’re looking for somebody who enjoys getting stuck into the detail, working through reconciliations and queries, and ensuring client money is managed accurately and compliantly.
Previous insurance experience would be highly desirable, particularly within an insurance broker or intermediary environment. Experience of FCA CASS5 and client money would be especially valuable.
The Role
You’ll work across a broad range of Insurance Broking Accounts activity, including:
- Processing and reconciling client money receipts and payments
- Completing daily and monthly client money bank reconciliations
- Investigating and resolving reconciliation discrepancies and outstanding items
- Monitoring and allocating unidentified payments
- Clearing contras and unallocated cash
- Raising client refunds and insurer payments
- Processing inter-account transfers and funding
- Supporting month-end processes, reconciliations and sign-off
- Reconciling insurer statements and investigating variances
- Managing commission discrepancies and reconciliations
- Preparing payment files for banking platforms and dual-authorisation processes
- Dealing directly with insurers, brokers and internal teams to resolve queries
- Maintaining clear and accurate audit trails
- Identifying and escalating potential CASS5 breaches, risks or control weaknesses
- Supporting process improvements and wider team activity

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The internal role spans Cashbook, Cashbook Payments and I-Rec activity, so there is genuine breadth to the workload rather than this being purely a transactional processing position.
This would suit somebody who understands the importance of getting client money, reconciliations and controls absolutely right, but who is equally happy getting through a high volume of work and solving problems as they arise.
