About InvestEngine

InvestEngine is everything the modern investor should need: unbeatable value, market-leading automation, and a platform built for easy, long-term investing.

We’ve built a strong foundation, with over £3.5 billion invested, award-winning service, and a passionate team. Now we’re scaling quickly — and our Finance function needs to scale with us.

About the Role

We’re looking for an Accounts and Payroll Manager to join our Finance team.

This is a hands-on role with ownership across UK payroll, Accounts Payable, VAT preparation, reconciliations, and finance process improvement. As our headcount and transaction volumes grow, you’ll help ensure our core finance processes remain accurate, well-controlled, and scalable.

You’ll be joining at a point where there is real opportunity to improve how things work — simplifying processes, introducing automation, and strengthening controls rather than simply maintaining the status quo.

You’ll work closely with Steven Woodford and the wider Finance and People teams, with significant autonomy over your area.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the end-to-end UK payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
  • Maintain strong payroll controls, including approvals, reconciliations, variance reviews, and documentation
  • Manage Accounts Payable processes and ensure invoices and payments are processed accurately and within agreed timelines
  • Maintain accurate accounting records in Xero
  • Complete payroll, AP, and relevant control-account reconciliations as part of the monthly close
  • Prepare VAT returns and maintain the supporting records and reconciliations required for accurate submissions
  • Identify manual or inefficient finance processes and introduce practical improvements and automation
  • Help build scalable processes and controls that can support continued growth in company headcount and transaction volumes
  • Work closely with stakeholders across Finance, People, and the wider business to resolve issues and improve processes

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You’ll have the freedom to improve how things work, the responsibility to follow through, and the backing of a team that values clear thinking and open dialogue. We believe in solving problems at the root rather than simply treating the symptoms.

What We Offer

  • Impact from day one
    • You’ll own critical finance processes and have a direct impact on their accuracy, efficiency, and scalability as the company grows.
  • Room to grow
    • As InvestEngine scales, you’ll have opportunities to expand your responsibilities and help shape how the Finance function operates.
  • Opportunity to improve and automate
    • This isn’t a role where you’ll simply inherit processes and run them forever. We want someone who will identify better ways of working and help us implement them.
  • Transparent and open culture
    • We share information openly, keep communication clear, and encourage collaboration across the business.
  • Supportive, high-calibre team
    • You’ll work alongside talented people who are experts in their areas and care about both the quality of their work and the success of the wider team.

Our Hiring Process

  • Introductory call with our Talent team
  • Gamified cognitive assessment to understand how you think and problem-solve
  • Competency interview focused on your payroll, Accounts Payable, accounting, and process-improvement experience
  • Senior leadership interview focused on how you work, your approach to ownership, and your alignment with InvestEngine

We aim to keep the process straightforward, transparent, and efficient.
