Accounts Apprentice
The Accounts Apprentice will support the Finance team with a range of accounting and administrative activities, gaining practical experience across invoicing, financial reporting, expense processing, project tracking and business administration while studying towards a professional accounting qualification.
What you'll do at work
- Prepare and reconcile monthly customer invoicing for parts sales, service contracts and project activities, ensuring billing accuracy while supporting financial reporting and business performance analysis.
- Prepare and process intercompany recharge invoices to group companies, primarily for resource costs.
- Review and validate weekly employee timesheet data to support accurate project costing, resource utilisation and financial reporting.
- Review employee expense claims for accuracy, compliance and appropriate cost allocation
- Support the collection, validation and recording of sustainability and environmental performance data.
- Maintain project financial trackers and support project cost monitoring activities.
- Prepare and post accounting journals, ensuring supporting documentation is complete and accurate.
- Monitor and maintain business mileage records, supporting accurate cost reporting and reimbursement processes.
- Support the development of financial reporting and analysis processes, helping to identify efficiencies, improve data quality and enhance management information.
- Provide accounting and financial administration support to the Finance team, contributing to month-end and reporting activities as required.

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
- Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
- Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
- Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
- Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
- Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
- Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
- Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
- Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
Training schedule
- Attendance to Loughborough College one day per week.
- Apprenticeship sessions fortnightly to assist with portfolio building and preparation for End Point Assessment.
- Diarised visits from dedicated Trainer/Assessor.
- On-the-job training.
- Off-the-job training.

Essential qualifications
- GCSE in:
- English and Maths (grade A/C or above)
- BTEC in:
- AAT (grade Pass)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

This role is expected to evolve as the business implements a new accounting system. We are therefore looking for an adaptable and proactive individual who is keen to develop their accounting, analytical and business partnering skills, and who can embrace change in a growing finance function.
