We are currently recruiting for a Level 2 Accounts Apprentice to join our client, a well-established company within the construction industry, based in Shrewsbury.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start their career in finance and gain valuable, hands-on experience while working towards a recognised Level 2 Accounts qualification.

You will receive full training and support throughout your apprenticeship, working alongside an experienced accounts team and developing a broad range of skills within a busy business environment.

About the Role:

We are currently recruiting for a Level 2 Accounts Apprentice to join our client, a well-established company within the construction industry, based in Shrewsbury.

You will receive full training and support throughout your apprenticeship, working alongside an experienced accounts team and developing a broad range of skills within a busy business environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing invoices and purchase orders
  • Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Processing payments and receipts
  • Maintaining accurate financial records
  • Assisting with bank reconciliations
  • Supporting the wider accounts team with day-to-day administration
  • Filing and organising financial documentation
  • Responding to general accounts queries
  • Using accounting software and Microsoft Office
  • Learning and developing an understanding of basic accounting procedures
  • Carrying out other general finance and administration duties as required

What you'll learn

  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues, such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience, and different media methods, with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule:

Accounts or Finance Assistant Level 2.

The training will be delivered by Meliorate Institute Education and Training.

Training will take place at the work place via an online tutor every four to six weeks.

Desirable qualifications:

  • GCSE in:
    • Maths and English (grade C / 4 or above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
