Are you looking to begin a rewarding career in finance while earning a salary and gaining a nationally recognised qualification? Greenhous is offering an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Apprentice to join our Finance team based in Stoke-on-Trent.

This apprenticeship is ideal for someone who is organised, eager to learn and has a keen eye for detail. You'll gain valuable hands-on experience working within a busy finance department while attending college one day per week to achieve your accounting qualification. The remaining four days will be spent working alongside experienced colleagues who will support and develop your skills.

Other duties may be required of the post holder in addition to those listed above and below, to ensure that the requirements of the business are met at all times.

Salary: Apprenticeship Salary

Hours: 4 days at the office, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, 1 day at college, i.e. 37.5 hours per week, 30 minutes lunch break (unpaid).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the processing of purchase and sales invoices.
  • Supporting the reconciliation of supplier and customer accounts.
  • Helping to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Assisting with bank reconciliations and daily cash postings.
  • Supporting month-end finance processes.
  • Preparing and filing financial documentation.
  • Responding to internal and external finance queries professionally.
  • Using accounting software and Microsoft Excel to maintain accurate records.
  • Providing administrative support to the wider Finance team.
  • Learning and developing your accounting knowledge while working towards your qualification.

Ideally, we are looking for:

  • GCSEs in Maths and English.
  • A genuine interest in accounting and finance.
  • Commitment to attending college one day each week as part of the apprenticeship programme.
  • Enthusiastic and keen to build a career in finance.
  • Well organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with numbers and accurate in their work.
  • A confident communicator with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Willing to learn new systems and processes.
  • Competent using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (desirable but not essential).
