Accounts Assistant
Norwich (Hybrid after Probation)
Up to £32,500
The Opportunity:
We're recruiting on behalf of an established retail business that is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join its busy finance team. This newly created position follows continued business growth and internal promotions.
Working closely with the Management Accountants, you'll support the preparation of monthly management accounts and manufacturer reporting, while providing financial information to senior managers and stakeholders.
This is an opportunity for someone with experience in an accounts department who is keen to develop their management accounting skills and take on a varied role within a supportive team.
The Accounts Assistant Role:
- Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Assisting with month-end processes, including accruals and prepayments.
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations, providing commentary and following up outstanding items.
- Authorising daily payments in line with company procedures.
- Processing manufacturer bonuses on a weekly basis.
- Monitoring outstanding debts, chasing overdue balances and reporting on ageing debt.
- Responding to queries from management and explaining information within the management accounts.
- Supporting stock takes, performing variance analysis and investigating causes.
- Working alongside Senior Accountants to identify improvements to financial processes and operational procedures.
- Highlighting discrepancies, financial control concerns and any suspected fraudulent activity.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation in accordance with company procedures and legal requirements.

The Person:
- AAT Level 3 qualified or equivalent; candidates qualified by experience will also be considered.
- Previous experience within a busy accounts department.
- Confident using Microsoft Office packages, including Excel.
- Knowledge of Pinnacle DMS would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Previous retail or motor trade experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
