Accounts Assistant

Location: Swiss Cottage
Position Type: Full-Time - 5 days in the office during probation and down to 4 days per week in the office thereafter.

Our client is a dynamic investment firm focused on identifying and managing strategic growth opportunities across diversified sectors. We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to join our growing finance team and support our day-to-day accounting operations.

Position Summary

The Accounts Assistant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing transactional accounting, and supporting month-end closing processes. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will ensure high efficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger operations.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process, verify, and code supplier invoices and expense reports accurately.
  • Prepare payment runs and manage supplier statement reconciliations.
  • Issue sales invoices, monitor accounts receivable, and perform credit control follow-ups as needed.

Banking & Reconciliations

  • Perform daily bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and currencies.
  • Reconcile corporate credit cards and petty cash transactions.

Month-End & Financial Support

  • Assist in preparing monthly trial balances, accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly VAT/tax returns and compliance filings.
  • Assist with audit preparation and liaise with external auditors as needed.

Administrative & Operational Finance

  • Maintain clean, organized digital records and financial documentation.
  • Respond promptly to internal and external accounting queries.
  • Support ad-hoc financial reporting and operational projects as directed.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Certifications

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or working towards AAT/ACCA/CIMA or regional equivalent qualification).

Experience

  • 3 years of experience in an Accounts Assistant or Finance Administrator role (investment management or financial services background is a plus).

Software Skills

  • Proficiency with accounting software

Skills & Competencies

  • High attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy.
  • Solid understanding of core bookkeeping principles.
  • Strong time management and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
