Accounts Assistant (part time) – Finance Team

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical accounts experience who is looking for a flexible part-time role with the potential to develop as the business grows.

Role Description
We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team on a part-time, permanent basis. You will support the day-to-day running of the accounts function, with a particular focus on sales ledger, invoicing, and credit control.
Ideally the successful candidate will be AAT qualified or part-qualified in a recognised accountancy qualification, with hands-on experience in a similar accounts or finance role. However, we would also welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate strong practical accounting experience.

The role will initially be 15 hours per week, with flexibility around how these hours are worked. As the company continues to expand, there is potential for both the hours and responsibilities to increase, making this a great opportunity for someone who would like to develop alongside a growing business.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Managing the sales ledger
- Raising and issuing sales invoices
- Credit control and debt management, including following up outstanding customer balances
- Allocating customer payments and maintaining accurate account records
- Assisting with month-end accounts and reconciliations
- Responding to and helping resolve customer account and invoice queries
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Supporting the Finance Manager with general accounting duties as required

What we are looking for?
We are ideally looking for someone who:
- Is AAT qualified/ part-qualified, or is working towards a recognised accountancy qualification, or has strong demonstrable practical experience in a similar role
- Has practical experience in an accounts or finance role
- Has experience with sales ledger, invoicing, and credit control
- Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in producing accurate work
- Is organized and able to manage their own workload effectively
- Is confident and professional when communicating with customers regarding outstanding accounts
- Is reliable, proactive, and able to work independently
- Enjoys working as part of a small, friendly team
- Has good Excel and general IT skills
Experience with Xero would be advantageous, but is not essential, as training can be provided.
