Are you an experienced finance professional looking for a varied role that combines accounts payable, payroll and month-end accounting responsibilities?

We're recruiting for an Accounts Controller to join a well-established and growing international manufacturing business based in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity to join a market-leading organisation that operates on a global scale and offers genuine career development opportunities within a supportive and collaborative finance team.

Reporting into senior finance leadership, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance function, taking ownership of accounts payable processes, payroll administration and month-end accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable

  • Processing supplier invoices and credit notes, ensuring accurate coding and approvals
  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving invoice and payment queries
  • Preparing and processing supplier payment runs
  • Managing cashbooks and posting bank transactions
  • Investigating and resolving outstanding creditor balances
  • Ensuring compliance with internal financial controls and procedures

Payroll

  • Processing monthly payroll for hourly-paid employees
  • Preparing payroll journals, including wages, PAYE, National Insurance and pension entries
  • Reconciling payroll-related accounts and balance sheet items
  • Managing payroll accruals, including holiday pay and bonus provisions
  • Ensuring HMRC submissions and payments are completed accurately and on time

Month-End & Financial Reporting

  • Preparing accruals, prepayments and monthly journals
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts
  • Reviewing GRNI, creditor balances and overhead expenditure
  • Completing intercompany reconciliations
  • Supporting monthly reporting and overhead analysis
  • Assisting with ad hoc finance projects and process improvements

About You:

  • Previous experience within a busy finance environment
  • Strong accounts payable and month-end accounting experience
  • Payroll experience would be highly advantageous
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business
  • Confident user of Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Experience using SAP or a similar ERP system would be beneficial
