Your new company Location: Worcester Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 (depending on experience) Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Working Pattern: Office-Based

An established, family-run SME based in Worcester is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their finance team on a permanent basis. This is a varied, hands-on role that would suit someone who enjoys being involved in all aspects of finance rather than working in a heavily siloed environment. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will be the sole finance support within the business and play a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance function. This position offers genuine variety, autonomy and the opportunity to make a real impact within a growing business.

Your new role This is a broad transactional finance role with responsibility across a range of accounting duties, including:

  • Accounts Payable
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Credit Control
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Supplier and Customer Account Reconciliations
  • Payroll Processing
  • VAT Returns
  • Expenses and Petty Cash
  • Cash Allocation
  • Month-End Support
  • Accruals and Prepayments
  • Financial Reporting Support
  • Process Improvement Activities
  • Maintaining Accurate Financial Records

Working closely with the Finance Director, you will also have the opportunity to support wider finance projects and contribute to improving existing systems and processes.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Assistant Accountant or similar position
  • Strong transactional finance experience
  • Experience across both Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger
  • Credit Control experience
  • Payroll knowledge
  • Strong reconciliation skills
  • Experience preparing VAT returns
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Good Excel skills
  • Experience using Sage 50

Desirable

  • AAT qualified or studying
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering or an SME environment
  • Experience working as the sole finance support in a business

What you'll get in return

    • Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
    • Friday: 8:00am - 1:00pm
