Accounts Assistant
As an Accounts Assistant, you'll get exposure to month-end, reporting, reconciliations, audit and international finance, while also getting involved in automation, AI and process improvement.
Client Details
The client is a fast-growing maritime business, backed by a major global shipping group.
Description
- Supporting monthly accounts and group reporting
- Preparing journals, including accruals, prepayments and intercompany recharges
- Preparing balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations
- Assisting with month-end and year-end processes
- Investigating cost variances and supporting financial reporting
- Processing purchase invoices and employee expenses
- Preparing bank reconciliations and supporting treasury activities
- Supporting UK tax compliance and external audits
- Working with finance teams across the UK and internationally
- Supporting process improvements, automation and AI projects
- Helping to improve controls, systems and processes across finance
- Providing transactional cover for international colleagues when required

Profile
- Previous Assistant Accountant / transactional finance experience
- A solid understanding of double-entry, accruals and prepayments
- Experience with reconciliations and month-end
- Intermediate Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage your own workload
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- A genuine interest in technology, automation and AI
- Confidence working with colleagues across different countries

Job Offer
- Salary ranging from £35,000 to £40,000, dependent on the level of experience.
- Permanent position within the maritime industry.
