Accounts Assistant

Location: Dumfries (Hybrid Working Available)

An established and growing accountancy practice is looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to join its expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with practice experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Working with a varied portfolio of clients, you'll gain exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities while working alongside experienced professionals who are committed to your ongoing development.

The Role

  • Prepare year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
  • Assist with the preparation of corporation tax computations.
  • Produce VAT returns, bookkeeping, and management accounts for a varied client portfolio.
  • Ensure client records are complete and accurate before commencing assignments.
  • Liaise with clients to obtain information and resolve queries in a professional manner.
  • Work closely with senior members of the team to ensure work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for client meetings where required.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy while ensuring compliance with current accounting regulations.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support colleagues across the wider business services team.

About You

  • AAT, ACA, ACCA, or ICAS qualified, currently studying, or qualified by experience.
  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice is essential.
  • Experience preparing accounts and supporting a range of accounting assignments.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach with good problem-solving ability.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
