The Opportunity:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Temporary Accounts Assistant to join a busy finance team during a period of increased workload. This role will support the day-to-day accounting function, ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently while assisting with month-end activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with prior finance experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is available at short notice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Processing supplier invoices and ensuring timely payment
- Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
- Posting and reconciling bank transactions
- Performing account reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
- Supporting credit control and chasing outstanding payments
- Assisting with expense processing and employee reimbursements
- Preparing and posting journals, including accruals and prepayments
- Supporting month-end close activities
- Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation
- Responding to finance-related queries from internal and external stakeholders
- Assisting with ad hoc finance and administrative tasks as required

About You:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or similar finance role
- Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles
- Experience processing high volumes of invoices
- Familiarity with reconciliations, accruals and prepayments
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Good Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables and basic formulas
- Able to manage workloads and work to deadlines
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach

Desirable:
- Studying towards AAT, ACCA, CIMA
- Experience using ERP or accounting systems such as Sage, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, SUN Systems or Dynamics
- Previous experience supporting month-end processes
