Manchester City Centre - predominantly office-based with flexible working available

Permanent

Sellick Partnership is working with a well-established SME consultancy based in Manchester city centre who are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their growing finance team permanently. This business has grown significantly and counts some of the UK's most recognisable names among its clients. They're a people-first organisation with a genuinely positive culture. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their finance career who wants variety, progression and to be part of a team that genuinely invests in its people.

Overview of the Accounts Assistant role:

Joining a growing finance team, the Accounts Assistant will report directly to the Senior Accountant and support the day-to-day running of the finance function. The business works with a broad range of clients, including some major names, and the finance team plays a key role in supporting the fee earners and surveyors across the business. You'll need to be confident on the phone, comfortable dealing with professional stakeholders, and have a good eye for detail. The role is primarily Manchester City Centre based, with flexible working available.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
