Accounts Assistant
£30,000–£35,000 per annum (depending on experience) | Reading | Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm with flexibility

Our client is a well-established and growing SME based in Reading, and they’re looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their team.
About the Role
This is a busy, hands-on transactional finance role, ideal for someone who enjoys working at pace, has excellent attention to detail and is keen to develop their accounting career. You’ll be dealing with around 5,000 payments each month, alongside reconciliations, supplier and subcontractor payments, statements and a small amount of credit control.
What you'll be doing
- Processing and allocating high volumes of daily payments
- Reconciling multiple client bank accounts and investigating discrepancies
- Preparing monthly client and landlord statements
- Processing and paying contractor and subcontractor invoices
- Dealing with payment and account queries
- Supporting credit control, including monitoring and chasing outstanding payments
- Assisting with tenancy-related financial administration and deposits
- Preparing basic financial and performance reports
- Working closely with colleagues across the business to resolve queries and keep things moving

You’ll also have exposure to a varied client portfolio, including public sector clients, giving you plenty of variety and responsibility.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Accurate and numerate, with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working with high volumes of transactions and multiple accounts
- Confident with reconciliations and accounting systems
- Well organised and able to prioritise a busy workload
- A good communicator who enjoys working as part of a team
- Proactive, reliable and willing to get stuck in and solve problems
- Ideally progressing towards AAT or keen to continue developing their accounting qualifications

Previous experience in accounts, finance administration, bookkeeping or property accounts would be advantageous.

Our client is a well-established property management business specialising in the management and letting of lock-up garage sites across London and Southern England. They are a professional, supportive and growing business focused on providing a reliable service to their landlords and tenants.
£30,000–£35,000 per annum, depending on experience
