Exciting Opportunity at Business & Accountancy Assist (BAA)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the friendly team at Business & Accountancy Assist (BAA). You will work alongside experienced accountancy and business professionals, receiving full training and support while developing skills in finance, administration, and business services to build a successful career in the industry.

Wage

  • £15,600 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age
  • National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices
  • Minimum wage rates (opens in new tab)
  • National Apprenticeship Wage.

Training Course

  • Accounts or finance assistant (level 2)

Hours

  • Monday to Friday 09:00am- 17:30pm
  • 37 hours 30 minutes a week

  • Thursday 1 October 2026

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

This role includes assisting the accountants with junior accounting tasks. The role will vary depending on the size of the business, and the team the learner works within. Day to day activities could include:

  • Basic bookkeeping activities
  • Working with sales and purchase ledgers
  • Running calculations and data entry

What you'll learn

Course contents

  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues, such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience, and different media methods, with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training Schedule

Your programme will be delivered in centre at our Walsall Training Centre, with the following structure:

  • Candidates will be required to attend PTP’s Walsall Training Centre fortnightly
  • During these sessions, new topics will be taught by your tutor
  • Between sessions, you’ll complete self-study tasks spread throughout the week
  • You will have regular meetings with your tutor on 1-2-1 basis every 6-8 weeks

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSE in:
    • English (grade C/4 or above)
    • Mathematics (grade C/4 or above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
