About the Role

Due to exciting business growth, we are expanding our finance team within Greenhous Fleet Limited. We are looking for a motivated Accounts Assistant Apprentice to join our finance team and start a rewarding career in finance and accounting. The role will initially be based on a temporary basis at Greenhous Shrewsbury before permanently moving to our Head Office in High Ercall, with the successful candidate attending Shrewsbury College one day per week and working four days per week on site.

Key Responsibilities

As an Accounts Assistant Apprentice, you will play a key role in supporting the finance team across a range of general accounting and administrative duties. This apprenticeship will provide you with valuable hands-on experience and training across different areas of finance, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, invoice processing, reconciliations, payments, and general finance administration.

  • Assist with the accurate processing of purchase and sales invoices.
  • Support the finance team with purchase ledger and sales ledger duties.
  • Assist with bank and account reconciliations.
  • Support the processing and allocation of payments and receipts.
  • Assist with supplier and customer account queries.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and filing systems.
  • Assist with checking invoices, purchase orders, and supporting documentation.
  • Support the finance team with data entry and maintaining accounting records.
  • Assist with preparing information and reports as required.
  • Provide general administrative support to the wider finance team.
  • Assist with ad hoc finance tasks and projects as required.
  • Develop an understanding of company financial processes, procedures, and controls.
  • Ensure confidentiality and accuracy when handling financial information.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for:

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Basic IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
  • An interest in finance and accounting and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive attitude and enthusiasm for developing new skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage tasks effectively and meet agreed deadlines.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to support colleagues across the finance team.
  • Willingness to commit to an apprenticeship and attend Shrewsbury College one day per week.
  • Willingness to work four days per week on site as part of the apprenticeship programme.
