About the Company

This manufacturing business is a well-established business with a strong history going back nearly 40 years, built on steady, deliberate growth. It's a good-sized business with over 100 people, supplying large, well-known organisations who expect and require a well-run, reliable operation behind the scenes. Growth has been significant in recent years, and the business continues to invest heavily in its people and facilities, including a brand new, state of the art site. It's a close-knit culture where everyone knows everyone and genuinely mucks in together, with strong family values along with health and safety sitting at the heart of the business.

The Accounts Assistant Job

Reporting to the Management Accountant, who's also acting as team leader, this Accounts Assistant job gives you genuine involvement in month end as well as full ownership of purchase ledger processing.

At month end, you'll complete the AP close, run the aged creditors reconciliation, post accruals, complete balance sheet reconciliations and assist with GL analysis, so you're properly contributing to the numbers each month, not just processing invoices.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Day to day, you'll process purchase ledger invoices, around 500 invoices a month, keeping the match between orders, goods received and invoices moving, and chasing down queries with suppliers and the wider business so nothing holds up a payment. You'll also handle supplier statement reconciliations, daily bank reconciliations, and raising payments to suppliers.

You will be working in a team of 4 in total, hence for someone who wants to develop and increase responsibility, there is plenty to get involved in as the business grows. The Head of Finance is strong on developing people and has lots of ongoing projects that they would welcome support on. However, if you are comfortable in your role, and do not want to progress, that is also ok in this position.

The Requirements

  • You must have experience owning some month end tasks such as accruals, aged creditors reconciliations and / or balance sheet reconciliations and GL analysis.
  • You must have experience in a purchase ledger or accounts payable role, comfortable with invoice processing.
  • You must be confident managing supplier queries and disputes, staying on top of them so payments aren't disrupted and have excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Person fit matters just as much as technical experience in this Accounts Assistant job. The team is looking for someone with a genuine team mentality, happy to muck in within a small, family-run business.
  • Studying toward, or interested in studying toward, AAT, CIMA or ACCA would be an advantage, with study support on offer.
