We are looking for a hands-on, switched-on finance professional to support our busy manufacturing finance team during a period of high activity. If you enjoy variety, love getting stuck into data, and feel proud of keeping things running smoothly, this role will suit you perfectly.
You'll work closely with our Financial Controller helping to keep reporting sharp, processes tidy, and the numbers flowing. This is a role for someone who is advanced with Excel, comfortable in a manufacturing environment, and happy balancing meaningful analysis with practical day-to-day tasks.
Key Roles and Responsibilities for Our Finance Assistant
- Supporting our commercial FP&A work - analysing margins, trends, volumes, and performance
- Working with production and operations teams to understand cost drivers and data flows
- Helping improve and streamline spreadsheets, reports, and processes
- Preparing and maintaining key daily/weekly/monthly reports
- Assisting with stock, costings, and manufacturing reconciliations
- Inputting purchase invoices and supporting transactional finance regularly
- Getting involved in ad hoc projects, problem solving, and continuous improvement
- Spotting opportunities for automation or simplification (Power Query, better formulas, cleaner templates - anything that makes life easier)

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
