About the Role
We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to become part of a well-established finance team. This is a practical and varied position offering the opportunity to work across several established and expanding businesses.
Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will assist with a range of day-to-day accounting duties and help ensure financial information is recorded accurately and efficiently. The role offers the chance to take ownership of your responsibilities while gaining experience across different areas of finance.

Key Responsibilities
- Record and process purchase and sales ledger transactions accurately
- Complete regular bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies
- Assist with the management of accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Provide support during month-end and ensure financial records are kept up to date
- Prepare and post journals while maintaining the general ledger
- Assist with credit control and follow up outstanding customer balances
- Work closely with colleagues across the business, as well as external suppliers
- Provide general support to the Finance Manager and wider finance team when required
Requirements
- Previous experience within an accounts or finance position
- Good understanding of fundamental accounting principles, including debits and credits
- Previous experience preparing and posting journal entries
- Confident using Microsoft Excel, including functions such as PivotTables and VLOOKUP
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work independently
- Clear and professional communication skills

Desirable
- Previous experience using Sage or another accounting system
- AAT qualification or currently working towards an AAT qualification
- Experience managing financial information across multiple companies or entities
