About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our team in Bolton. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accountant looking to develop their technical skills and progress their career within a professional accountancy practice.

You will work alongside experienced colleagues and have the opportunity to develop your knowledge across accounts preparation, taxation and client services, while taking increasing responsibility for your own workload and client portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of management accounts and statutory accounts for a portfolio of limited company clients, ensuring work is accurate, timely and completed in accordance with relevant standards and statutory deadlines
  • Plan and prioritise your own workload to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and excellent service is provided to clients
  • Assist with the preparation of corporation tax computations and returns, developing your knowledge of relevant tax requirements
  • Regularly report to the Client Manager on workload and job progress
  • Liaise with clients regarding the preparation of their accounts and respond to relevant queries
  • Provide recommendations and highlights to the Client Manager regarding client accounts
  • Develop and share your technical knowledge within the team and contribute to a supportive working environment
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional value to clients
  • Maintain the highest standards of quality and client service

What We’re Looking For:

  • Currently studying towards ACCA, ideally at the early stages of your qualification, or AAT qualified/part-qualified with a strong interest in progressing towards ACCA
  • Previous experience within an accountancy practice/general practice is essential
  • Some practical experience of accounts preparation and taxation
  • A genuine commitment to developing your technical knowledge and progressing your accountancy career
  • A can-do attitude with strong communication, organisation and prioritisation skills
  • A passion for providing excellent customer service
  • Hands-on experience using cloud accounting software, particularly Xero, is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of accounting support software such as Dext and CCH would be advantageous
  • Willingness to learn, develop and work collaboratively as part of a team
