The Role

We're looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our small, hands-on finance team at a London hardware technology startup that's growing fast. You'll keep our day-to-day finances running smoothly, from payables and supplier relationships to cash management and month-end. You'll also own the finance tools we rely on, including Xero, ApprovalMax, Expensify, and Dext. In a team this size, your work is visible and your ideas count: we want you to spot what could work better and use automation and AI to build it. Please note applicants must be based in the UK and have the right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• All accounts payable tasks, including invoice coding, preparing weekly payment runs and resolving queries
• Complete daily bank and debit card reconciliations using Xero
• Monitor bank accounts and prepare transfers to keep operational accounts sufficiently funded
• Send a weekly cash status report to senior management
• Assist with month-end tasks including accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Set up new suppliers and act as the main point of contact for supplier invoice and payment queries
• Administer our finance apps (including ApprovalMax, Expensify, and Dext), managing users, approval workflows, and integrations with Xero
• Identify and implement improvements to finance processes, with a focus on automation and making good use of AI
