Our Business
Wates Group Services provides strategic and operational support to all the Wates businesses. The main functional areas include HR and Learning and Development, Safety and Environment, Finance, I.T, Marketing and Communications, Legal, Commercial and Procurement. In addition, support is provided to the Wates family owners of the Group through the Family Office.
The Role
Duties
A vacancy has arisen for an Accounts Assistant working for Group Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accountabilities shown below along with ad hoc duties within the team. The role reports to the Transactions Supervisor:
- Producing weekly Subcontractor and Supplier payment runs for all Wates Group & SES
- Producing manual bacs, cheques and priority payments
- Transacting intercompany payments
- Raising Sales Invoices (holiday/sickness cover & month end extra resource)
- Daily checking of CIS payment reports
- Processing VAT and CIS adjustments
- DRC corrections, adjustments, and queries
- Processing Retention releases
- Allocating refunds & unallocated cash
- Query resolution
- Maintain various mailboxes to ensure all emails are updated in a timely manner

No specific qualifications are required for this role
Key Skills
- Basic understanding of CIS would be an advantage
- Basic understanding of DRC would be an advantage
- Basic understanding of Vat would be an advantage
- Ability to reconcile complex accounts
- Ability to confidently communicate with people at all levels
