Join an established finance team within a specialist technology business

PDS is seeking an Accounts Assistant to support the day-to-day financial operations of the business.

Whether you’re looking to build on your existing finance experience or you’re an established Accounts Assistant seeking a varied and stable long-term role, we’d be pleased to hear from you. The role offers exposure to a broad range of finance activities within a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Based at our Derby office, you’ll work within a small, supportive Finance Department and play an important role in the effective operation of the business.

What the job entails

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will support the day-to-day operation of the Finance Department, contributing across a broad range of financial activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Performing account reconciliations.
  • Preparing and posting nominal ledger journals.
  • Assisting with month-end processes and reporting activities.
  • Processing employee expenses and company credit card transactions.
  • Assisting with the preparation and updating of project and management reports.
  • Supporting colleagues across the business with finance-related queries.
  • Providing support and holiday cover across purchase ledger, sales ledger and cashbook activities.
  • Undertaking other ad hoc finance and administrative duties as required.

What we need from you

You will be organised, reliable and detail-oriented, with experience of working within a finance function and the ability to manage a varied workload.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or Accounts Administrator role.
  • Good understanding of finance processes and controls.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including lookups, pivot tables and standard formulas.
  • Positive and proactive approach to work.
