Welcome to London's Biggest Independent Pub Company
Urban Pubs & Bars was founded in 2014 by Nick Pring and Malcolm Heap and has since expanded to an estate of over 65 pubs, bars and restaurants across London. Our ethos focuses on acquiring the best sites in the right locations and recruiting exceptional talent who are as passionate about food and drink as we are. Establishing the right offer and investing in the right areas is key, while devoting time and attention to the teams that operate our venues is a major part of that investment.
In 2018, Urban Pubs & Bars was ranked number 28 in the Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 list, recognising Britain's fastest-growing privately owned companies. We were then nominated for two Publican Awards in 2020, winning the award for Best Managed Pub Company (2-50 Sites). In 2021, Urban was awarded Best Food-Led Pub Company at the R200 Awards. Most recently, Urban once again won Best Managed Pub Company (2-50 Sites) at the Publican Awards in 2023.
In 2025, we were recognised by The Sunday Times as one of the Top 100 Companies to Work For.
Our teams play a pivotal role in creating an eclectic collection of unique establishments, each offering a friendly atmosphere, delicious food, and outstanding service. We are committed to ensuring every venue remains a valued part of its local community.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
