Accounts Assistant (Temporary to Permanent)

Location: Stockport
Salary: £30,000 per annum + Bonus Scheme
Hours: 38.5 hours per week
Start Date: Immediate Start Available

The Opportunity:

Our client, a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Stockport, is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join its finance team on a temporary to permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive finance professional looking to secure a long-term position within a successful SME. Reporting into the finance function, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring accuracy across transactional finance processes while contributing to month-end activities and ongoing process improvements.

The successful candidate will be available to start immediately and will thrive within a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Ledger

  • Raising and processing customer invoices
  • Issuing credit notes
  • Investigating and resolving invoice queries
  • Processing online payment transactions
  • Supporting credit control activities where required

Purchase Ledger

  • Processing and coding supplier invoices
  • Managing supplier queries and maintaining positive supplier relationships
  • Reconciling supplier statements
  • Assisting with weekly and monthly payment runs

Banking and Reconciliations

  • Supporting daily banking activities
  • Completing bank reconciliations
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records

Expenses and Credit Cards

  • Managing the employee expense process, ensuring appropriate approvals are obtained
  • Processing and reconciling company credit card transactions
  • Maintaining supporting documentation and records

Month-End and Reporting

  • Assisting with month-end close procedures
  • Completing ledger and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparing prepayment journals
  • Supporting financial controls and reporting processes

Additional Support

  • Providing finance support across multiple divisions of the business
  • Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives and finance projects
